When it snows, the whole world changes. It takes on new colour – the blues of the sky bleaching to pistachio, the greens of forests turning pale buttercream in the weak morning light, crystalline waters reflecting the world and the greys of the ground turning heavy white.

It is a poetic time, a dream where the world hits the pause button, abandons its hurried pace of productivity and waits with bated breath for the fresh green of spring to erupt from the icy ground. It is a reminder to me of a time to slow down, a reminder that chasing dreams is different from living them.

 This painting is an ode to that presence in every winter day, a call to slow down and savour, to the hush and peace that coats the world in the aftermath of Fresh Snow.
