Note from the artist

My husband has a travel rule that I’ve always taken issue with in the many years we’ve been married. He swears to never visit a travel destination more than once. He says there are too many places to visit in the world, and repeat vacations are well, redundant. 

I’ve never agreed but I have gone along with it, mostly. That is, until we visited Japan in the summer of ‘23.

It is a uniquely beautiful country that has devastating natural beauty, a robust heritage and pop culture that we could not get enough of. After two weeks exploring Tokyo, Kyoto, Gifu and Okinawa, my husband and I boarded the plane back, knowing that we would visit Japan again - in autumn, spring and maybe even brave winter to see Mt Fuji and Shirakawago blanketed in thick snow. 

This Geisha doll sits in our living room as a reminder for us to plan our next trip. Have you been to Japan?
